1Q: What should  foreign individual customer residing for more than 12 months and has a long-term visa in Vietnam do to ensure that payment account and card transactions continue to operate normally?
A: Foreign individuals customers residing long-term in Vietnam need to do the following:

– Update biometrics at the counter to avoid interruptions in ATM withdrawals, online payments, and online card transactions.

– Update passport expiration date if passport expires, update visa expiration date if visa expires, update temporary residence date if temporary residence date expires to avoid interruption of withdrawal transactions, payment of payment accounts on online channels and at counters, card transactions

2Q: What are the biometrics for foreign individual customers?
A: Before January 1, 2025, foreign individual customers can update biometrics at the app/counter.

After January 1, 2025, foreign customers can only update biometrics at the counter.

3Q: The customer is a non-resident foreigner, but when opening a payment account, he/she registered a short-term visa and a short-term temporary residence period on the passport in the account opening application. Will the customer’s payment transactions with the payment account be suspended when the visa expires without updating the period?
A: Transactions are not suspended because the customer’s payment account opening documents do not include a visa/temporary residence card.
4Q: What transactions will be interrupted for foreign individual customers whose passports and visas have not expired but have not updated their biometrics?
A: Customers still make normal payment account transactions at the counter.

Step 1: Declare changes and provide related documents:

At least 1 month before returning home, customers need to go to the Bank to prove that they will not continue to extend their visa, including:

–           Fill out the Change Request Form. declaration and;

–           Provide customer’s identification documents (passport or visa or temporary residence card about to expire) + air ticket + confirmation from the parent company that they will not continue working in Vietnam and will return to their home country (confirmed by the HR Department or competent authority).

 

Step 2: Submit documents proving the change:

Within 1 month after returning home, the customer must notify of his/her return and submit supporting documents including:

–           The customer sends an email to the Bank to notify that they have returned to the country (via the deposit team lead email or the Bank’s general email) and;

–           Scan of passport with entry information and decisions/documents proving work abroad or valid documents proving residence abroad.

 

Step 3: Bank officer processes:

–           After receiving the email from the customer, Bank officer will proceed to adjust the customer status from resident to non-resident and;

–           The teller sends an email to the customer informing them that the customer’s information has been successfully adjusted.

8Q: What transaction interruptions will occur if a foreign customer who is a non-resident fails to update the temporary residence period on his/her passport?
A: Transactions related to payment accounts are not interrupted. People with temporary residence period of less than 12 months are not allowed to open a card.
9Q: What should foreign customers do to avoid to stop card transactions?
A: Customers need to update biometrics, update passport expiration date, visa, temporary residence card (for foreigners residing long-term over 12 months in Vietnam)
10Q: Who needs to update biometric at the counter?
A: Only Vietnamese customers using Citizen ID/ID card and phones that support NFC feature (chip scanning feature) can directly register online on WON App.

Foreign customers and Vietnamese customers using phones without NFC feature need to go to the counter to update biometrics

11Q: Can foreign customer living abroad who needs to update information about the expiration of their passport/visa/temporary residence card authorize another person to update the information in Vietnam ? If so, what is the procedure?
A: Authorization is allowed. The procedure and order are as follows:

–           In case of authorization abroad: The customer makes a written authorization for another person at the competent authority in the host country, notarizes and consularizes that authorization in Vietnam. The authorization content clearly states “update the validity of the customer’s passport/ visa/ temporary residence status”

–           In case the customer authorizes at Woori Bank Vietnam: Before the identity document expires, it is necessary to authorize according to the Bank’s form in the presence of a bank representative and the content and scope of authorization clearly state “update the customer’s passport/visa/temporary residence status”.

–   When coming to update information, the authorized person must present the Authorization Document and the authorized person’s identification documents (Citizen ID card/ID card for Vietnamese, Passport, visa for foreigners) along with the original passport/visa/temporary residence card or a notarized copy of the customer’s information that needs to be updated.

12Q: How will customers who do not perform biometrics be affected and have their card transactions interrupted?
A: Customers will be suspended from online transactions.

(ATM withdrawals using physical cards and POS withdrawals are still performed normally)

13Q: How will individual and corporate customers who do not update their identification documents be interrupted from card transactions?
A: Individual customers: All card transactions will be suspended when the identification document expires.

Organizational customers:

§   Corporate customers: In case the passport/CCCD / ID card /visa/ residence card of the legal representative or authorized representative of another organization expires, the Corporate card will be temporarily locked according to the Corporate CIF.

§   Individual authorized to use the Corporate card: In case the visa/passport/CCCD/ID card/residence card of the individual authorized to use the card expires, the card of the individual using the card will be locked.

14Q: What documents can foreign individual customers use to update their residence period?
A: Documents verifying residence period:

1)        Work permit

2)        Temporary residence certificate (passport will have temporary residence certificate stamped until when the temporary residence is allowed)

3)        Temporary residence card

4)        Permanent resident card

15Q: How will the individual customer authorized to use the Corporate card be biometric?
A: Customers perform biometrics similar to the normal personal biometrics process
