Mr. Kim ByungJin has been officially appointed as the CEO of Woori Bank Vietnam Limited, effective from 31/03/2025. His leadership is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the bank’s business operations in the near future.

Born in 1971, Mr. Kim ByungJin joined Woori Bank Korea in 1994. With over 30 years of experience in the banking and financial sector, he has held several key positions at Woori Bank Korea, including Director of the Gangseo Financial Center and Head of the Retail Marketing Division. Notably, he previously worked in Vietnam as the General Manager of Hanoi Branch, where he played a pivotal role in the branch’s remarkable growth over his three-year tenure.

The leadership of Woori Bank Korea has placed great trust in Mr. Kim ByungJin due to his deep expertise and understanding of the Vietnamese market. As the new CEO of Woori Bank Vietnam, he is expected to implement market-aligned business strategies, introduce innovative financial products, and drive business growth, propelling the bank to even greater success in the near future.

Upon officially assuming his role, the new CEO- Mr. Kim ByungJin shared his strategic vision for Woori Bank Vietnam in 2025 and the upcoming term. His core business strategy will focus on expanding the retail banking sector by enhancing digital banking services to attract a larger customer base in Vietnam. 

He emphasized that the high proportion of the young population and the exceptional level of smartphone usage are key advantages of the Vietnamese market. On this basis, he stated that Woori Bank will undertake a comprehensive restructuring of Mobile Banking (Won app), enhance digital banking channels, and expand online financial services to provide customers with a more convenient and secure transaction experience. Additionally, in response to the rapid growth of the affluent customer segment in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the bank will further promote the Private Banking services. This year, it is expected to launch the high-end transaction counter “TWO CHAIRS” and a safe deposit box service, offering specialized corporate financial and asset management solutions at Hanoi branch on the 34th floor of the Keangnam Landmark building. With the upcoming medium and long-term strategies and the philosophy of ‘Customer-Centricity,’ Woori Bank Vietnam is committed to firmly advancing on the journey to becoming a trusted bank for Vietnamese customers.

“Two Chairs” service for priority customers at Woori Bank

Woori Bank has had a presence in Vietnam for 28 years, opening the first branch in Hanoi in 1997, followed by Ho Chi Minh City branch in 2006. In early 2017, the bank officially established the legal entity in Vietnam. Since then, Woori Bank Vietnam has rapidly expanded, becoming the largest foreign-owned bank in the country, with a charter capital of VND 12.5 billion. Woori Bank has also significantly expanded the business network, establishing branches and transaction offices in major cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Da Nang, and Can Tho, etc. with a total of 28 locations nationwide.

Over the past 3 years alone, Woori Bank Vietnam has demonstrated remarkable growth. The number of individual customers surged from 370,000 to 630,000, while Digital banking customers saw an impressive increase from 535,000 to 865,000. Additionally, the bank’s capital mobilization and outstanding loans have doubled, accompanied by the launch of numerous innovative services tailored to Vietnamese market demands.
